Sunday Gospel and Politics

Its been two months since I was reunited with my God. I've been regularly attending masses and about the homily today, I would like to share my reflections. The gospel for the 30th sunday in ordinary time came from Mt 22:34-40:
WHEN THE PHARISEES HEARD THAT JESUS HAD SILENCED THE SADUCEES, THEY GATHERED TOGETHER, AND ONE OF THEM, A SCHOLAR OF THE LAW, TESTED HIM BY ASKING, "TEACHER, WHICH COMMANDMENT IN THE LAW IS THE GREATEST?"
HE SAID TO HIM, "YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD, WITH ALL YOU HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND. THIS IS THE GREATEST AND THE FIRST COMMANDMENT.
"THE SECOND IS LIKE IT: YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. THE WHOLE LAW AND THE PROPHETS DEPEND ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS."
---the gospel of the lord. (PRAISE TO YOU, LORD JESUS CHRIST)
A famous line in law books, "DURA LEX SED LEX" states that "the law maybe harsh but it is still the law." I think this holds true even with the commandment of our God. What God's law asks seems too difficult to uphold and to follow. This I suppose points to a reason why we are all hypocrites. We tried our very best to follow God's commandment but because of its impossibility, following god's rule is tantamount to pretention. and pretending because we believe in something (in this case our faith in god) we tend to be hypocrites. I dont know if this holds true to all, but this is why we became human because we cannot love god with all our heart, soul, and mind. Because if we really religiously follow this rule there is no reason for mistakes and sins to exist.
Moreover, if the first rule is difficult a task, more so is the second rule. Can we really love our neighbor as we love ourselves? Human nature theorists clamor for a self-dependent individual pushing selfishly in maximizing interests and personal gains. Thus, can we really equate love for oneself with love for others?
Law is indeed harsh. But the law stands as is. It is true most especially with God's commandment. Though it is difficult to follow, as a christian and a believer, we must strive and put our very best efforts to try to at least love god with all there is to offer and love our neighbors like we love ourselves. This maybe a path to greatness, and this is the path that god envision for us. To live trying to follow him. With Him, mistakes are unimportant compare to the efforts that we give to mitigate it.
If everyone of us would take this into consideration politics would not be as problematic and complex as it is. If our leaders could act altruistically, no corruption can be allowed. If our decision makers decide not for their personal gains, we might reach a peak of stability and growth. If we can all have "the love God with all our heart, soul and mind and love our neighbor as we love ourselves" principle, I think life will be happy, fruitful and prolific up to a level we never have imagined.

good morning to you my friend,

i am a regular blog viewer and i welcome you to the world of true cynicism.

your "homily" was okay, not so good but catchy for a 21 years old.
that's the reason why i would leave a comment.

to start with, there are a lot of considerations before one could actually blog about the religious aspect of life; needless to mention all just this two essential thoughts; first and most important is the religious status of your readers. you don't blog just to widely talk about your theories, ideals, perspectives, point of views or life undertakings. honest blogging is all about your readers. how they could interact with your posts and what they could learn from it at the closing stage. second, blogging about the religious world weighs a greater tons than the political world. religion is indeed debatable.
nevertheless, its agreeable just what like martin luther have said, "to be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing." if people would live according to god's words all will be well but not exactly what you have blurt out as people committing no mistakes or non-sinners or more particularly as "the no existence of mistakes and sins." to live by the words of god is far more different than to live in the world of god.
and before i go, no individual can be a non-sinner because neither the "god's" of the "god's" can not be labeled as "perfect". because judiciously, piously and reality speaking, even the real god is at stake. there are many many many "god's" and i bet we have different "god's" and so as your readers.

a beginner just as i thought, days from now you can go along way. do better then.

good day.

Dear Anonymous,

Since you're such an avid "blog viewer" why don't you create your own account here in blogger and stop being a poser. And don't even start with the "self-righteousness".

FYI: A blog is a form of "self-expression." People don't blog with YOU in mind. And people certainly don't need permission from you to post it.

Dear Blue Vega,

You hit the cherry. I'm about to say those same remarks but I hindered myself (self-restraint) since I belive that everyone has the right to opinion. Mr Anonymous got his/her, you have yours, and I have my own perceptions.

Thanks , nonetheless for an implicit defense.

To Anonymous,

I just need to note that when I have my debate subjects, religion is not debatable. Contrary to your remark that "religion is indeed debatable," things about religion are not subject to academic debates since rationality will be out out of the picture. The discussion might lead to a messy one, since it will be more of a moral contestations, ergo, moot and academic. Then again, we have the freedom to religion, to believe what we believe and not what we ought to believe.

Further, as BlueVega noted, Blogging is a form of self expression (unless I'm a professional blogger and I clarify that I am not). Hence, primary considerations in blogging are the things you have in mind, you want to write and you want to express, not entirely the other considerations you mentioned. I suppose those are just secondary.

Take note, I don't care about their religion, beliefs and etc. I even don't care about yours. I care about my religion, beliefs, etc. I care about my god...
